Recess Organizer Team Relationship Agreements
- We agree that present conflicts between organizers must be progressing towards resolution at all times.
- Every organizer has access to organizational systems, communication structures, and resources to create a working relationship and experience with Recess what THEY want. They feel empowered and supported in realizing this.
- We seek to be in good personal relationship with all other Recess Organizers. We seek to speak truly about how we’re feeling, have our emotions heard, and take the steps necessary to build trust and respect. If we feel resentment building, we find another path.
- Every organizer is invested in the overall success of the event as a whole. This requires flexibility, teamwork, and buy-in to the overall success of the event. The Recess organizing structure is designed to support a collective visioning process and network of support between all sub-committees and teams.
- Encouragement of cross-pollination between sub-committees. Skill building within the organizing team.
- All sub-committees and organizer relationships strive to realize an emergent relationship, where we elevate each other’s projects and recognize how we support each other in them.
- Culture of thank you, mutual respect and appreciation.
- It is expected that team members self advocate for their needs, both in on-site self care as well as larger organizational needs. We seek to support one another in advocating for our own needs.
- Organizing team operates on a modified consensus basis. Meetings have rotating facilitators and note-takers. Attention will be paid to separating the power of the advisory board and the organizing team.
- Recess is not an organization run on consensus; however, the following decisions are run on consensus by the Recess Organizing Team Members: 1) approval of new Recess team members, 2) what to do with Recess end-of-year profits, and 3) the Recess event calendar.
