Note to the community: After considering the community feedback regarding the cancellation of the Mendocino Magic Recess, we have decided to support a Recess Community Campout event in California the same weekend originally planned. The Campout will be organized by some Recess organizers with the support of community members: Agata Stucka and Rocky Taylor. This event hopes to provide a space for important dialogue and growth for us as a community. It also will provide the typical celebratory dance and community space that we all love about Recess!!

Our hope is that this community event will help provide a space for important reflection, lessons, and visioning for what Recess has-been, is, and will become. The Event: The venue is an idyllic campground situated at 5200 feet on Fench Meadows Reservoir and a short walk from the North Fork of the American River. The vision of this event is a low-fi Recess. Dancing and celebration in a breathtaking natural landscape, community dinners, and (for those wanting to participate), daytime opportunities to hear and be heard about current issues and desires in the community. In addition to hiking, swimming, and the usual merryment of Recess.
Event Accessibility Statement: A camping only event. Potable water on site. Electricity available only by Recess generators during running hours. Vault toilets are available throughout the campground. RV and car camping available. Recess kitchen available for community use all hours except 3pm - 7pm daily. Only vegetarian dinners are provided for those purchasing the meal plan. No cell phone or internet service.
Meals: The Recess Community Campout will offer community vegetarian dinners every night. The cost to buy into the dinner meal plan will be $20. Otherwise, the Recess kitchen will be open for community use during all other hours. THIS EVENT WILL NOT BE PROVIDING BRUNCH NOR A LATE NIGHT MEALS. BE SURE TO PACK FOOD ACCORDINGLY.

Tentative Event Schedule
Firday Arrival: Dinner + opening circle at 7pm. Feel free to arrive anytime after 3pm, but know that we'll joyfully ask (and expect) you to help us set up! Music starts at 9pm.
Daily Meal Times + Announcements: (All heavy on the "ish") 7:30pm dinner. Event kitchen will be available for community use at all times except 3pm to 7:30pm daily.
Dancing Nightly: 9pm to when we stop.
Daytime: Swimming, workshops, hiking, community discussions for those interested.
Monday Noon: We miss you already, thanks for the beauty! Now let's clean up and continue to dream about what comes next!
Directions: From Auburn, Calif., take Highway 80 to the Foresthill Road, then travel 20 miles east to Foresthill. Turn right on Mosquito Ridge Road and continue east for 42 miles, to the French Meadows Reservoir. Follow signs to the Coyote Group Campground. Black Bear Campground is within Coyote Group Camp.
